First question .. does MDC say your device is connected? If not, SD will not see it either.

My suggestion is to use a USB card reader and just sync the card. This is usually faster and has the advantage that you cannot inadvertently "brick" your device or mess up important files on the internal memory of your device. Also I think I am right in saying you have to install SkyDemon to the card/device first before syncing  .. used to be the case, not sure if it is now.

It also depends on which device you are using. For example the Navigon 8410 will not run without intsalling miopocket and (I think) compact framework (.net for winCE).
